A sad day for the UAE and very much against the run of play here (expansion, not retrenchment). @wizzair has been a big part of my family’s Middle East adventure, carrying us to places we’d never have otherwise been. They’ll be missed. https://t.co/ZzZb2tpTbV
@bespin3r There’s also the question of which sort of sushi. For example, I’d argue chicken teriyaki is less woke than, say, avocado and cucumber sushi. There’s actually a whole sliding scale of food wokeness. Perhaps an area for further academic research.
Good analysis of TV1’s somewhat hyperbolic poll commentary by Ani O’Brien. Not the network’s finest moment and some reflection on the tone and exaggeration of the importance of the poll wouldn’t go amiss. Nice work Ani.
Last night’s TvOne poll was the most hyped up poll I have ever seen in my life…but really the shifts were small & the only significant element was NZ First going below 5%. Winston said he doesn’t give a “rats derrière”.
@bryce_edwards *I should have said 5% lower. All polls vary - the trend is what you look for. I don’t see Curia’s polls as being any less or more accurate than any of the others. They’re all snapshots in time and subject to statistical variance. Doesn’t make them wrong.
@bryce_edwards So just to be clear on all those saying it’s a “right wing poll” and therefore invalid; does that mean that the previous Curia poll, which had ACT on just 5%, was also “rigged”? Or was that one accurate, but just this one wrong? Can’t pick and choose.
@SeanPlunket Anyone who has studied the history of MMP politics in New Zealand, or been part of it, will know Peters has performed credibly in his ministerial roles in coalition governments for both Labour and National. I would expect him to do the same this time.
@Light42Lime@SeanPlunket@NZStuff@X Very good, balanced piece that actually lets the reader understand what this new coalition wants to do, without the editorialising and subjectivity that’s become all too familiar. I would say the subbing is very bad - lots of typos. Maybe there are no subs?
@SeanPlunket I think most compassionate Kiwis would appreciate an end to the bloodshed in Palestine, Sean. As an NZer living in the Middle East I sure would. I don’t think that it’s “bullshit” at all. Ceasefire. Now.
@theplatform_nz I might be a little biased here, but I think the gallery could perhaps allow @BenEspiner to join their ranks. Guyon and I spent a decade there so it’s fair to say journalism is in the family blood!
@cutaway_cafe I am in exactly the same boat. Trying to renew D/L from offshore. Can’t pay online, NZTA say I must call NZ and pay over the phone(!). Gave up after spending 20 mins on toll call; emailed and also told I’ll hear back in…three weeks. Unbelievable.
@bernardchickey I think the daylight laws are pretty important. Plus Christchurch doesn’t have a housing crisis on the scale of Wellington or Auckland. Arguably they’re also leading on new builds, no?
