The Director General of NITDA, @KashifuInuwa, received the DG of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike, at the Agency’s Headquarters to explore strategic areas of collaboration between ICT and meteorology.
Both leaders agreed that ICT is the engine driving modern weather forecasting, data collection, and analysis, a vital tool for advancing Nigeria’s climate intelligence, aviation, agriculture, blue economy, and disaster risk management systems.
Prof. Anosike shared NiMet’s groundbreaking innovation, METEOWIZ, the first-of-its-kind weather solution developed entirely in-house by NiMet staff in Africa — a proud milestone for local tech innovation!
Together, NITDA and NiMet will forge a strong partnership through a forthcoming MoU, focusing on digital transformation, data management, innovation projects, and capacity building. A joint technical committee will also be constituted to drive actionable projects that integrate advanced IT into meteorological operations.
This partnership exemplifies our commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s #RenewedHope Agenda, leveraging technology for sustainable national development.
