Hi all! Would anyone be interested in reading and reviewing performative embodied critical essays responding to Raduan Nassar's "A Cup of Rage"? I'm curating a collection around the book and would love feedback as it's only the first draft! #essays#writer#poetry#art
@Smidgelegion@vampylink@kvromachi I agree! I was talking from a biological standpoint because it is safe to assume adults (at least most of them) are mature enough for this type of media. Young teens who are well-versed in media literacy will understand the separation of fiction and reality too
@vampylink@Smidgelegion@kvromachi Echoing what mei said, kids don't have the mental faculty to stop fiction from influencing real-life judgment. We are talking about adults here, or people with mature enough mindsets to realise exposure to romanticised media will not alter their perception of reality
@peachylian for me romance is a very broad genre (it always has been, historically many literature's portrayal of romance has been very dark) but others see it as the traditional, idealistic, "happy ending type"
@unrikopan14324 @sussyflipflop@MJays_Sins@fsh0n_ Can you comprehend that human sexuality and attraction is very nuanced and is rarely ever black and white compared to age or whether you are South American or not
@fsh0n_ SO TRUE like sorry I donโt want to confine myself into a box every time my preference changes, or if I donโt have one at all ๐ญ legit I cannot categorise something as complicated as attraction and sexuality?? soz humans r complicated??? idk why some people box others,, itโs weird
@mikrokosmically do you understand that the reason peple don't look at things they don't like is because they KNOW it is going to bring them discomfort?? they have acknowledged what they don't like hence they are avoiding it? being comfortable doesn't mean you're stupid jesus
@swanstations @ilyasroza i agree it's lowk weird to look at gay sex and immediately think it's objectifiying and stereotyping gay people (actual fetishisation not erotica). if someone believed that then it must hold true for het and wlw sex as well otherwise i would suspect internalised homophobia
@JaydubKaydub@eclecticmuses@mikrokosmically no?? i said immature READERS can misunderstand. the authorial intention here was depicting a taboo, which immature readers may misinterpret as good promotion. in this case, it's not the author's fault for depicting something it's the readers for misinterpreting
@seunghomy i agree it's lowk weird to look at gay sex and immediately think it's objectifiying and stereotyping gay people (actual fetishisation not erotica). if someone believed that then it must hold true for het and wlw sex as well otherwise i would suspect internalised homophobia
