Is Reform Too Scared To Be Called Racist?

Zia Yusuf gave millions of people one fact about the prospective Labour candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali:

Somalia.

Then he asked them whether they understood what was happening.

I didn’t. So I spent days trying to find the rule behind his post.

I checked British electoral law. I checked Reform’s written policy. I checked the people Reform itself has selected and elected. I checked Labour, the Conservatives and Restore. Then I went abroad and looked at Australia, Pakistan and America.

Everywhere I looked, somebody had drawn a line on who should be allowed to stand for public office.

So eventually I drew mine.

It is harder than Reform’s. It goes further than anything that Restore have dared publish. It may will Sagal Abdi-Wali. It excludes people I would defend. It protects people I have spent years fighting.

You can call me wrong. You can call me discriminatory. You can call me racist. I am not frightened of the word.

That is the point.

If Zia Yusuf believes a British citizen’s birthplace should determine whether they can govern this country, he can tell us what Reform’s rule is. He can tell us who it excludes. And he can put his name underneath it.

I have.
