Myth: "I can't take my government to court." β
Fact: The ECOWAS Court exists for exactly this reason. β
Access to justice shouldn't be a luxury. If you live in West Africa, you have the right to stand up for your human rights. The Centre for Community and Oceanic Law (CCOL) is dedicated to supporting citizens with free legal aid to make accountability possible.

28 days.
Still no answers.
Still no rescue.
Still in captivity.
We will not stop counting until they come home.

π The ocean gives us life, food, livelihoods, and over half the oxygen we breathe. Yet plastic pollution, illegal fishing, oil spills, and emerging threats like deep-sea mining continue to push marine ecosystems to the brink.
This World Ocean Day, we must move beyond awareness to action. Protecting our oceans is not optionalβit is a responsibility we owe to future generations.
Watch, learn, and join CCOL in advocating for ocean justice and a healthier blue planet.

The ocean sustains life, supports livelihoods, and connects communities across Nigeria and West Africa.
As we mark World Ocean Day 2026, we reflect on the importance of protecting our marine environment from pollution, illegal fishing, and other growing threats. Strong ocean laws and collective action are essential to safeguarding our coasts, economies, and future generations.
π Protect the Ocean. Protect Our Future.

The Centre for Community and Oceanic Law (CCOL) is deeply concerned by the growing wave of school abductions across Nigeria. The continued kidnapping of students and teachers is a direct threat to the nation's future and undermines every child's right to education and safety.
CCOl acknowledges the efforts of the government and the sacrifice of the armed forces. But much more needs to be done. The government must rise up to the occasion to safeguard the population, especially the young and vulnerable!
