While I agree with the overall premise, these aren't the best examples.

Dyer couldn't get games at Volendam. Would he if he were dutch?

Kellyman had injuries and a successful loan, which is a good pathway.

Slipping through the cracks

Chelsea’s recruitment policy of signing a high number of young players, although exciting - does have his negative impacts

There’s many extremely talented footballers who now see their pathways to first-team football in jeopardy through no fault of their own

Kiano Dyer (19) is a very unique English midfielder who wouldn’t look out of place as a Spaniard or Dutch player

His ability on the ball is special. Never scared to receive it no matter the position, always moving and trying to be as progressive as possible.

He can wriggle out of impossible situations and has the vision, passing ability and technique to match

Omari Kellyman (20) is a very versatile forward who moves so gracefully for someone possessing a 6 ft 3 frame. He’s a great finisher around the box and a very strong ball carrier

He had an impressive loan at Cardiff last season, but questions now remain of where he stands in Chelsea’s long term plans

Both these guys have everything in their locker to make it to the very top of the game, but whether it’ll be at Chelsea is the big question

Alajbegović and Chavarría were both LOVED by Xabi Alonso, but the board did not want to meet Rayo Vallecano’s CONSTANTLY changing demands, and Alajbegović ultimately chose Juventus. No plans on backup targets for EITHER position.

This is genuinely interesting just cos I like data.

However there's a next to zero chance Welbeck or Henderson play any meaningful minutes unless we have a ridiculous injury crisis.

And Lacroix takes time from Fofana, who's only 1 year younger and Chalobah, who's 1 year older

Chelsea had the youngest squad in the Premier League last season on a minutes-weighted basis (24.48), with Tosin Adarabioyo being their oldest player at 28 years old.

This transfer window has seen a clear shift in strategy, with a focus on bringing in Danny Welbeck (35), Jordan Henderson (36), and Maxence Lacroix (26).

When applying minutes played for their previous clubs last season, and factoring in Chelsea's departures (Garnacho, Santos, Cucurella), Chelsea's minutes-weighted squad age rises to 25.77, taking them from 1st to 5th in terms of youngest squads in the Premier League.
