Don’t know how many times you can say it one summer but teams aren’t coming to take out worst players. Andrey one of the bright spots of player acquisition churn + because of rampant mismanagement of finances at club he’s gone at first available opportunity. The canary’s chirping
The argument that "no one wants to buy so-and-so" doesn't work, when it is a problem created by the sporting directors themselves so it shouldn't serve as a crutch to justify selling good squad players.
@iamrahmanosman It’s not certain Enzo is staying. 47 appearances last season. He helped when others couldn’t stay fit.
It isn’t a great fee. Midfielders are going for way more. He’s 22 going to a rival who never gets injured and so much more to grow. We spent more than that on Lavia years ago
Chelsea confirm Geovany Quenda has joined from Sporting Lisbon on a contract until 2034.🔵
🗣️ "Chelsea is a great team and I am excited to play here at Stamford Bridge. The club has shown faith in players like me and I am proud to be here, proud to be part of this club.
"I am excited to work with my team-mates and the Manager, Xabi Alonso. I'm a very hard-working young person and I like to help my team."
The period of reflection was weak. Selling for profit to strengthen a direct rival, and undoubtedly to be replaced by someone who is a downgrade.
Just because Alonso is here, let’s not ignore the track-record and the fact that the people in power are still there.
We’re yet to see any players who categorically are not good enough be shuffled to the door.
It’s like players such as Disasi, Badiashile, Tosin and the like are completely unsellable.
We’ve sold a player who was definite strength in depth to a rival and weakened ourselves.
🚨 EXCL: Manchester United reach agreement with Chelsea to sign Andrey Santos. Deal for 22yo #CFC midfielder worth £48m + £2m easily achievable add-ons & 10% sell-on clause. Permission given to undergo #MUFC medical; personal terms in place @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/TY4qfwhHT4
Just hate everything about this deal. Selling within the league. Selling him before others. Selling him for peanuts given the current market. Classic BlueCo trader things. Still no FOS sponsor. Let’s keep normalising that idiocy too
The cost of us not even being able to scrape a European spot despite the fact NINE PL teams were able to do so.
I would look to replace him with someone that can play alongside or instead of Caicedo. Essugo and Lavia are unreliable depth due to injuries.
Gentle reminder that Andrey played 1260 league minutes in his debut PL season in 25/26.
That's 48 minutes more than Lavia's PL minutes for Chelsea over three seasons since joining in 2023.
Miss me with the numbers bullshit. That’s how he was somehow signed in the first place. And even still his metrics creation wise ain’t amazing. Hudson-Odoi literally grades out better, and no one is clamoring for him to come back.
Most of the squad up for sale with very little evidence we will go in to next season much stronger than last.
No meaningful change at director level.
Pinning all their hopes on Alonso working miracles.
Might as well start planning for their next period of reflection.
