Miss me with the numbers bullshit. That’s how he was somehow signed in the first place. And even still his metrics creation wise ain’t amazing. Hudson-Odoi literally grades out better, and no one is clamoring for him to come back.
Most of the squad up for sale with very little evidence we will go in to next season much stronger than last.
No meaningful change at director level.
Pinning all their hopes on Alonso working miracles.
Might as well start planning for their next period of reflection.
99% of Chelsea fans knew this would be a disaster of a signing.
If your fans are more competent than your Directors, you really shouldn't be keeping them on after your "period of reflection".
I will never understand this signing. We chased him the entire window like he was a bona fide superstar. I pray Paul Winstanley trips and cracks his head open
The reason why this club is finished is because these people will always get away with stuff like this, anybody with a brain could’ve of told you not to sign him
This was, by far the worst Winstanley signing. Had spent 55m on Gittens. Desperate for experience. Desperate for a GK having bailed on Maignan over 3m difference. Manager begging for a CB. Utd desperate to move him on. And they STILL spent 40m on him.
Everybody complicit in the Garnacho deal should be sacked immediately.
It was so obviously never going to work out.
Another £40m completely wasted by the best in class.
@JacobsBen@talkSPORT@BobbyVincentFL Insane to me that every fan could see this transfer wasn’t going to work but a certain sporting director (or two) couldn’t see it.
The absolute moronic director who put this nob forward and refused to accept what so many knew, that he was SHIT, needs to get out of my club immediately.
Don’t like this. Essugo and Lavia haven’t been able to keep injuries away. That’s before I even think about the level Andrey can become if given the chance
Despite meh athleticism, Andrey is a really good screener who understands how to cut off passing lanes and track runs, progresses the ball well through the middle, moves the ball v quickly and is good in the air going both ways
Would be such a dumb sale
I would sell Lavia before Andrey Santos all day, everyday. At least Andrey is extremely durable and seems really invested. And I think Xabi can improve him. Whereas Roméo isn’t even available to improve.
But always harder to sell the injury prone one.
Victor Osimhen wanted Chelsea. The club refused to meet the financial demands.
Mike Maignan wanted Chelsea. The club walked away instead of paying AC Milan's asking price.
Now Xabi Alonso wants Granit Xhaka. Xhaka is open to the move, yet Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to pay the fee because they believe it's too much for a 33-year-old who can improve the team immediately.
Ironically, they'll spend a similar amount on a 16-year-old with no guarantee of making an impact.
Is this really how they're planning to back Xabi Alonso, or are they setting him up to walk away too? 😕
Sunderland refused to sell Granit Xhaka for any price and stood firm. Chelsea were willing to offer more than what they initially offered.
The Swiss star wanted the reunion with Xabi Alonso, but does not get it. It feels like the lowball offer ended all possibilities.
