Spanish & Chinese teachers at CHS integrate high tech into the classroom. They were introduced to the Media Center's vinyl printer, laser engraver, 3d printer, & other equipment. Stay tuned to how their students will use this tech in unique ways to expand world language learning.

At Ft. Island Media Center, there is a great balance of info & tech literacy. A new clevertouch interactive display is installed, but there is still time for reading aloud, the most important researched activity leading to language development and promoting early literacy skills.

Herberich 1st graders read "Ish" by P. Reynolds, discussed story structure, & used the Clevertouch in the STEM Lab/Makerspace to explore different art tools, so they could identify with the artist Ramon, who is the main character in "Ish." STEM + Literacy = Successful Students
Sixth grade students in the CFMS Media Center were given the challenge to design a helmet for a superhero out of Strawbees. Creativity and super powers were flying high as students worked together in teams to compete to win the top designs, judged by Officer Fister!
CFMS students are making new banners for the Media Center using Sharpie Markers. They are blending the colors together using rubbing alcohol to make a watercolor effect. A fun lesson on solubility, color mixing, and the movement of molecules!
Future architects and engineers? CFMS students were tasked to "Build a Better Birdhouse" with legos in the Media Center. Many added swimming pools, exercise rooms, game rooms, and even cars and airplanes for their birds.
