@DrJamesWhit great presentation at @SXSWEDU
I hope you can create a trusted national political endorsement program that helps protect communities from the tyranny of radicals.
Many part-time community college faculty members currently work in multiple community college districts to piece together a living. Urge Governor @GavinNewsom to fix this problem by signing #AB375. Sign here: https://t.co/zd7CCznPjr
Today @orangecoast counseling faculty met with @DaveMinCA .
It is GREAT having a state senator who is concerned about community college issues. THANK YOU @SenDaveMin
.@orangecoast & @gwchb are using CARES act funding to offset swapmeet losses to their gen fund. @CFTunion & @AFTHigherEd local 1911 are fighting to use CARES funding for distance ed. (classroom) expenses.
RT if you want colleges to use CARES funding for educational expenses
I'm currently sitting in @OversightDems' hearing on the devastating health impacts of climate change, and my Republican colleagues & their witness are taking issue with labeling climate change as a crisis.
RT if you think climate change is a crisis.
. @CoastCCD reducing part-time pay by up to 13%....UNILATERALLY....No negotiations!!.. @CFTunion local 1911 stands united with our members against #WageTheft@orangecoast@gwchb executives make $200K+ and take a 5% pay cut while part-time faculty make $20 & receive a 13% pay cut!
Local 1911 faculty @AFTunion spent thousands purchasing equipment for Fall 2020 distance classes. @CoastCCD will not use CARES act $$ for reimbursements! They will use CARES $$ for losses from their private businesses (Swapmeet and Dorms) @CoastReport Do they care about students?
local 1911 @AFTHigherEd is unified in fighting @CoastCCD unilateral action to reduce part-time faculty salaries! This is #WageTheft These are our lowest-paid colleagues! The Chancellor makes $300K and takes a 5% cut whle part-time faculty making $20K get a 13% cut.. #Shameful!
.@RepHarley CARES act (institutional) funding is for colleges offsetting the cost of their move to distance education? @CoastCCD refuses to reimburse equipment purchases REQUIRED to provide quality distance ed. @orangecoast & @gwchb r using $ to offset swapmeet losses! Help!
.@RepKatiePorter CARES act (institutional) funding is for colleges offsetting the cost of their move to distance education? @CoastCCD refuses to reimburse equipment purchases REQUIRED to provide quality distance ed. @orangecoast & @gwchb r using $ to offset swapmeet losses! Help!
Local faculty who live in @RepKatiePorter dist. and @RepHarley dist. are very disappointed. Management at @CoastCCD @orangecoast@gwchb & @CoastlineInOC refuse to use CARES act funding for equipment required for teaching. Reimburse faculty equipment purchases for great teaching!
What is @USCAdmission doing regarding transfer students who choose pass/no-pass this semester because of the coronavirus? Will it impact admissions for general education classes? What if the student has a "Pass" in a major class? #USCAppAdvice#USCAdmission
Today the State Chancellor's office for the California Community Colleges provided flexibility to extend the Pass/No-Pass deadlines @TeresaWatanabe@CCGRAdvocates
How should colleges grade fairly as students struggle with housing, food, health, family duties, safe study space, internet access during coronavirus? Campuses at @UofCalifornia & t/o country debate pass/fail, As for All and other ideas. https://t.co/qa8SV9y2NH
My COVID-19 test came back negative, which is a relief. I am still staying home, because I have symptoms and need to recover; this means I will not be able to travel to Washington, DC to vote.
What about the largest higher education system on earth, the California Community College system. What are they doing with student grading? Any word from the state chancellor? @CCGRAdvocates@TeresaWatanabe
The California online college #calbright was not created by the normal legislative process. It was created because Governor Brown inserted it into his budget bill. #calbright receives over $5 million per full-time student! 5000 times more than cal community colleges @CFTunion
Many California Community College's are experiencing declining enrollment. They would be THRILLED to offer additional online and competency based education. Why do we need #calbright to offer these programs?
#calbright is wasting millions for CCC programs @CFTunion
