My wife died from COVID at 39 @10DowningStreet gives single payment of £3500. The funeral cost more than that. Then it's 100 for 18 months to help the transition. It means pretty much everyone who relies on two incomes for a mortgage is displaced overnight. Pension is forfeit too

Bereavement payment is 2500 or 3500 if you qualify. Then it's £1800 paid monthly by DWP. State pension is forfeit if you die before 55(?).
