📢 NEW: Canada's Entrepreneurial Drought – Part 2 is out.
As more businesses close than open and BC entrepreneurs face rising costs, red tape, and labour pressures, CFIB lays out clear fixes for Canada’s shrinking business landscape. ⬇️ #bcpoli
Congratulations @G_Anderson1 on your appointment as Parliamentary Secretary for Energy and Climate Solutions.
CFIB looks forward to working with you to deliver affordable energy choices for BC's small businesses.
Governments set a May 31 deadline to remove one of Canada's most obvious internal trade barriers: direct-to-consumer alcohol shipping.
The result? Only Manitoba and New Brunswick got it done.
If premiers are serious about breaking down internal trade barriers, they need to start meeting their own deadlines. Small businesses don't need more announcements—they need action and results.

Good to meet with the Leader of the Opposition @PierrePoilievre & Deputy Leader @MelissaLantsman in Ottawa today. Canada is facing an entrepreneurial drought - with more business closures than openings over the past year.
We spoke to the need for immediate action on tax and regulatory policy to help small businesses succeed.
It was a pleasure to appear at the BC Budget 2027 consultations today to provide @cfibBC's recommendations to fix BC's entrepreneurial drought.
My thanks to Chair @PaulChoiBC and Deputy Chair @DonegalWilson for their thoughtful questions.
This is a common sense decision that will support local small businesses, particularly during busy periods.
During the BCGEU strike last year, CFIB heard from businesses that were hit hard hit by the government’s liquor distribution shutdown.
That is why CFIB called for more options for liquor supply. We're glad to see that made a reality today. #bpcoli
BC landing global events like the #FIFAWorldCup is exciting & brings real opportunity.
⚠️ But with public costs in the hundreds of millions, government needs to match that ambition with action: cut red tape, ease costs, and ensure small businesses actually benefit. #bcpoli

Thank you MLA @gavindew for meeting with CFIB to discuss BC's rising youth unemployment and how small businesses can help create more opportunities.
📢 Small businesses are often a first step into the workforce, but rising costs are making it harder to hire and train young workers. #bcpoli 1/2
📢 BC small businesses are caught between a rock and a hard place.
With the minimum wage rising to $18.25/hr on June 1 and a looming PST expansion, cost pressures are stacking up.

⚽️ While Ontario is cutting red tape so small businesses can maximize the benefits of the FIFA World Cup, BC is still blocking bars and restaurants from staying open late if they want to.
It's not too late for BC to change course. #bcpoli
From June 11 to July 19, bars and restaurants across Ontario will be able to extend alcohol service hours until 4 a.m. so fans can come together, cheer on Canada and celebrate the FIFA World Cup 2026™, no matter what time the game is on.
