Check out this new position in my team in the Center for Natural Climate Solutions @ConservationOrg if you're interested in developing financially sustainable and innovative forest carbon projects in the tropics: https://t.co/9zscOU9wTH
Second PhD chapter is now published in Forest Ecology and Management (@ELSenviron)! Monitoring lianas from space: Using Sentinel-2 imagery to observe liana removal in logged tropical forests. https://t.co/JtE8VWarhx
My team at Conservation International are recruiting for an Applied Researcher to join the Center for Natural Climate Solutions. The role will develop science-based tools for implementing NCS interventions, with a focus on tropical forests. https://t.co/WYJDHfKlW7
Great to get back to some tropical forests last week with @ConservationOrg to start an exciting project on the management of lianas post-logging. And wonderful to get together with the team in person! @aroopsind @bronsongriscom
@ottermarie Our lab (@c_bousfield) have just collected soundscape data from various levels of disturbed forest in Sabah, and hoping to get data from our active restoration experiment next year (dependant on access to field site)
Very excited to announce that my first PhD chapter is now published! The paper in @Ecol_Evol, in collaboration with @ConservationOrg, determines the overall effect of removing problematic climbing plants from degraded tropical forests using meta-analytic techniques…
Special thanks to @aroopsind and @bronsongriscom for their wonderful contributions to the paper!
Keep a look out for more research on climber removal in Malaysian Borneo from the rest of my PhD in the future…
While we show that climber removal is a significant, underappreciated natural climate solution, we urgently need further research outside the Neotropics, in drought conditions, and regarding the negative impacts on biodiversity, before it can be implemented ubiquitously.
It's been a great first day at #SCCS2022 today, complete with a fantastic final plenary! Looking forward to more tomorrow. Come talk to me about my poster in session 2a if you're interested in the restoration of logged forests.
Looking forward to my first in-person conference at #EAB2021 ! Come see my poster tonight @17.30 on using remote sensing to monitor the restoration of logged tropical forests
