Yankees’ approach for ‘situationally aggressive’ baserunning already coming to life It’s part of what first-year baserunning coach Dan Fiorito called his vision for what he wants the team’s approach to be on the bases. https://t.co/fc3tCRaSCc
Today is going to be special for Dan Fiorito.
The #Yankees coach grew up a fan of the team in Yonkers, went to Fordham Prep & Manhattanville College, signed with NY as an undrafted free agent, and made it to Triple-A before working his way up the coaching ranks.
Now, he's a big leaguer in his own backyard.

So happy for Fio, a homegrown talent from Yonkers (UDFA signed 2012 and played in Tampa with Gary Sanchez and Preston Claiborne under Luis Sojo in 2013).
After I saw this interaction with Judge and Grisham this past March, I knew he was destined for the Bronx sooner than later.
Aaron Judge is hitting .434/.524/.803. The league as a whole is hitting .241/.315/.391. He is the best hitter in baseball and it is not particularly close.
The Yankees mourn the passing of Lou Cucuzza, Sr., who was the patriarch of the Cucuzza baseball family and a proud and loyal New York Yankees employee for more than 35 years. Lou was a fixture in the Visiting Clubhouse at Yankee Stadium, and his attentiveness to opposing team players, coaches and staff was renowned across the Majors.
He passed down his professionalism and love for the game to his sons, Lou Cucuzza, Jr., who currently leads the staff in the Yankee Stadium Visiting Clubhouse, and Rob Cucuzza, who heads the Home Clubhouse staff. Cucuzza, Sr. was a beloved member of the Yankees family, and he will be deeply missed. We send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Cucuzza family.
"Our job is to play basketball. You've got people getting up at 6 am doing 12-hour shifts. Those guys are tired. For us, we’re playing a game…. We gotta keep that in perspective." — Josh Hart ❤️
