My second highlighted game of Championship Sunday at the Grassroots Showcase by @hoopseen brought a different kind of battle, one that was all about control, discipline, and shot selection as @SISelect went against Old Gold DT. This wasn’t reckless basketball; this was controlled, efficient, and executed with purpose. Both sides leaned on good looks and precision, with Select not being afraid to let it fly, but both did it with confidence and intent.
From the jump, the ball movement stood out. Crisp passes, sharp cuts, and players trusting each other to make the right play. Forced shots were rare, and both teams stayed locked in on defense, making every look tough and every bucket earned. The first half turned into a straight tug of war, neither side giving ground, trading stops and timely baskets until it sat dead even at 25-25 at the half.
The second half didn’t lose that edge. Efficiency stayed high, but now every possession felt heavier. Shots down the stretch carried weight, and both teams answered each other with clutch makes that kept the tension rising. You could feel it building, possession by possession, stop by stop.
In the end, Old Gold DT found just enough separation in those final moments and closed it out with a hard-fought 56-52 win.
They were led by #23 @Lildxsh, who controlled the paint and the pace with a strong 19 points and 10 rebounds, making his presence known every trip down the floor. Right alongside him, #15 @cfkr15 brought balance and toughness with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block, impacting the game in every phase.
SI Select had their own standout in #30 @27_gore, who put on a show with 17 points, raining in 3 shots from deep with unlimited range. He added 10 rebounds and a block, doing everything he could to keep his squad within striking distance.
This one wasn’t about flash; it was about execution, discipline, and who could stay steady the longest. Old Gold DT did just that when it mattered most and walked away with a gritty win.
Few play with the energy, strength, and toughness of 2027 Raymond Gilbert. The 6’4 wing scored 14 points was incredibly impactful with his rebounding, defense and was all over the court making plays. @renegade_club@ny2lasports
South Suburban Hoops has decided to rename the Big Dipper to the Coach Jamere Dismukes invitational, because he simply owns the Dipper 🤷🏽♂️
No longer a question, Homewood Flossmoor is the number one team in the state of Illinois under his leadership.
@HFVikingHoops Can somebody please tell @Cbrownfield33 to hurry up and turn this big @$$ radio on 😂😂🖤🖤💯💯
Congratulations Champions @HFHSAthletics

Big performance from 2027 F Raymond Gilbert of Morgan Park, finished with an 18-rebound double double in a 55-49 win.
A beast in the paint, dominated on both ends the entire game with his strength and physicality. Just turned 15, should be on more radars.
