The State Grocery Store.
New York’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is opening city-owned grocery stores. Five of them, the first one next year. The city will cover the rent and the construction, and a basket of staples will be sold about 30% below market. A "public option," he calls it, for where the market has failed.
It sounds kind. Poland had these stores for over forty years. See the picture below. Let me tell you how it ends.
1. Every Pole knew the joke. A man walks into a shop: "No meat?" The clerk: "No, sir. Here is no fish. No meat is across the street."
2. A store that cannot go bankrupt has no reason to stock what you want. A private grocer who guesses wrong goes broke. A state store that guesses wrong gets a bigger budget. So the shelves follow the plan, not the customer.
3. A price below cost is not a gift. It is a queue. When staples sell for less than they cost, demand runs ahead of supply, and the shelf is empty by ten in the morning. A local shop owner has already predicted it: a handful of stores for eight million people will be jam-packed.
4. The city promises not to compete with local shops – discounts only on the basics. That is how it always begins. In 1947, Poland’s communists launched what they called the "battle for trade." Taxes, inspections and price rules squeezed the private shops one by one, until the state store was the only store left.
5. Scarcity creates a new kind of power: access. The clerk keeps the good meat under the counter for friends. The party elite had their own shops – Poles called them the shops behind the yellow curtains. The store built for equality produced the most unequal access of all.
6. And look at why food is expensive in New York in the first place: rents, rules, taxes, and shops closing because theft goes unpunished. The city that makes groceries expensive now offers to sell them to you itself – typical socialism: fighting the problems you create first.
7. You don’t need to read Hayek to understand this. You only need to have stood in a Polish queue at dawn, with a ration card in your pocket.
Nobody voted for the queues and the vinegar (the only thing that was often left in the shops – because you can’t consume that much of it without anything else). They voted for the promise, but they still got what necessarily follows.
And in every socialist city, the shop that has no meat is always just across the street.
I’m Polish. If France is your future, I come from the end of that road.
France shows you the slow version. We lived the full one – the version where the state doesn’t just take care of everything. It owns everything.
In Poland it arrived with Soviet bayonets. In America it would arrive by vote – slower, softer, with better slogans. But the destination is the same, and so is the mechanism.
It starts with prices. When the state decides what things should cost, prices stop telling the truth. A price is a message: this is scarce, this is wanted, make more of this. Abolish the message, and the whole economy goes deaf. So the shelves emptied – first of meat, then of almost everything.
Every Pole knew the joke. A man walks into a shop: "No meat?" The clerk: "No, sir. Here is no fish. No meat is across the street."
We queued for everything. People wrote their place in line on their palms and kept lists through the night. You waited years for a small car, and often more than a decade for an apartment. Not because Poles were lazy. Because nobody in the system had any reason to produce what we needed.
At work, we had another joke: we pretended to work, and they pretended to pay us.
And the promise of equality? It produced the most unequal system of all. The party elite had their own shops – Poles called them the shops behind the yellow curtains. Those with dollars shopped in special stores. Everyone else got the queue.
Then the system needed informers, because nobody believed in it anymore. Our neighbors were recruited to report on us. You never knew who was listening – the colleague, the friend, sometimes family. So we learned to live a double life: one language in public, another at home.
Those who spoke up got the wolf ticket: no job, no promotion, sometimes no university place for their children. Nobody needed to send them to prison. They just couldn’t live.
The newspapers reported record harvests while the shelves stood empty. Everyone knew. Nobody said it. That is what a society looks like when the lie becomes the system.
In 1950 we were about as rich as Spain. By 1989, Spain was twice as rich. That is what forty years of "fairness" cost us.
Today in America, the method is softer. Your neighbor won’t inform on you to the secret police. Someone will report your post, and you’ll be cancelled – no job, no account, no platform. Different tools, same machine.
We got out. Ten million of us joined Solidarity, and in 1989 a system that looked eternal collapsed. Since then, Poland has become one of the great success stories of Europe – because people were finally free to build.
But we still carry it. More than thirty years later, you can see it in the careful answers, the closed faces - the system leaves faster than the fear does. It takes generations to get out of it fully once you fall into that trap.
Nobody votes for the queue. Nobody votes for the informer. They come with the promise.
Trust me, you don’t want to go down that road.
How Weak Men Come About
It starts at home. The household is rich and civilized, and that is often understood as a sophisticated softness and smoothness. Feminine values take over. The mother rules at home and can afford to give her boy everything: to fulfil his every whim, to do everything for him. And so she does. With one child per family, it is often six adults – two parents, four grandparents – serving one boy. So the boy gets everything, for free, and immediately. He never takes the marshmallow test, because there is never anything to wait for. He never fails, because no one lets him. A boy becomes a man by meeting resistance, and his home has removed all of it.
And where is the father? Sometimes gone after a divorce, a weekend visitor. But even when he stays, he is gone. He leaves in the morning for abstract work the boy cannot see or relate to: meetings, emails, a screen. For thousands of years, a boy watched his father work, then worked beside him, then took over. He learned from older men by doing, and one day they told him: now you are a man. That apprenticeship has disappeared, and nobody ever tells him.
Then come the group dynamics at school. If the majority of boys already start like that, it becomes a self-reinforcing behavioral norm. Boys want to belong, so they all act soft. The one who wants to stay strong ends up alone, and loses. The predominantly female teaching staff reinforces it. The men teachers, a small minority, end up dominated by the feminine atmosphere of the school. There are no trees to climb and no fights to settle – the playground is padded. Competition becomes suspect, risk becomes a safety violation, and the restless boy who once got a football field now gets a diagnosis. The leftist curriculum only adds to that, teaching the boy that his strength is a problem to be managed.
Meanwhile the screen gives him everything a man used to fight for, for free. Video games give victory without a fight. Porn gives sex without courting a woman. Likes give status without achieving anything. Why pay the real price when the fake one costs nothing? So he doesn’t.
Then the leftist academia finishes him off. Three more years of learning that the men who built his civilization were oppressors, and that the right answer is always the softest one.
Then the HR-dominated corporate world simply keeps him that way. Promotion goes to whoever offends no one. The man who says the plan is bad is "not a team player". What school started, the office maintains for forty years.
The propaganda reinforces every mechanism along the way. In films, sitcoms and ads, the father is the idiot whom the wife and kids correct, and strength is either a joke or a threat. The boy learns early what a man is supposed to be.
And at the end, the state takes the last role he had left. It provides for the mother, so the provider becomes unnecessary. A man nobody needs has no reason to be strong.
And so it goes. Our men end up weak. This is not because they were born weak. It is because every institution they passed through rewarded softness and punished strength, from the first toy to the last performance review.
That is why we are being conquered by Muslims who laugh at us, seeing all of that.
No rinden cuentas. No explican nada.
NO DEFIENDEN DERECHOS. DEFIENDEN CAJAS.

I used to love London. I really did. Not long ago, it was the best city in the world. Busy, rich, lively, safe. Now? Yes, there are nicer areas in the central part. But large swathes of our capital city resemble a third world shithole. That's just the honest truth, and we all know it.
It did not used to be like this. It just didn't.
I get attacked and insulted whenever I talk about this, but it's true. Walk around central London, what do you see?
Foreign migrants spitting, drinking and defecating in the street.
Groups of foreign men, hanging around in gangs, harassing women, shouting in foreign languages, smoking weed and whatever else.
Our own domestic wronguns, free to steal phones and plaster the city with graffiti.
Filth, everywhere. The city is just dirty.
Vape shops, 'candy' stores, Turkish barbers, foreign convenience stores.
Stabbings, stabbings and more stabbings.
Parallel communities with entire streets unable to speak English, living under their own laws, treating women like dirt.
You could be dropped on hundreds of streets in London and you would think you're in Pakistan.
There seems to be some confusion about who our capital city belongs to...
THE BRITISH PEOPLE.
It is our city, and we need to take it back.
If you agree with what I'm saying, then vote for it.
Vote Restore Britain.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has recommended — and President Donald J. Trump has approved — death by U.S. Army firing squad for convicted terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan, the jihadist who opened fire on unarmed American soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009. He killed 13 people and wounded 32 others while shouting “Allahu Akbar” during the attack.
The Secretary of the Army will set the time and place of the execution. Judgement day for Hasan has finally come.
