Opposition wins only when popularity is strong enough AND geographically distributed enough to overwhelm structural advantage. @PeterObi and @KwankwasoRM take note
Plateau and Benue Att@cks are aimed at reducing Tinubu’s votes in 2027 —APC Chieftain, Saleh Zazzaga
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, has alleged that the recent wave of v+olence in Plateau State is politically driven and aimed at weakening President Bola Tinubu’s chances ahead of the 2027 elections.
Zazzaga’s comments come after over 20 people were reportedly k+lled in a Palm Sunday att@ck in Gariya Waye, Angwan Rukuba, in Jos North Local Government Area. The incident has sparked fresh fears of escalating insecurity in the state.
In a statement on Monday, the APC stalwart claimed the k+llings were orchestrated by opposition elements seeking to derail Tinubu’s re-election bid and discredit Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang.
According to him, the situation is also linked to resistance against Muftwang’s defection to the APC, which he said has strengthened the party’s influence in the North-Central region.
Zazzaga further alleged that the att@cks in Plateau and neighbouring Benue State are part of a broader plot to reduce the voting strength of communities perceived to support Tinubu.
He noted that the North-Central region had pledged six million votes for the President in 2027, making it a key political target.
“The att@cks are meant to create fear, destabilise communities, and reduce the population that would vote for the APC,” he said, adding that the v+olence is being used to paint the federal government as ineffective.
He described the North-Central as Tinubu’s strongest political base, especially with the region now having multiple APC governors.
Zazzaga also cautioned religious leaders against making statements that could inflame tensions, urging them to promote peace instead. He called on security agencies to monitor inciting rhetoric and take decisive action against perpetrators of v+oldnce.
While urging proactive measures to address insecurity, he also commended President Tinubu for visiting Jos after the att@cks, describing the move as a show of empathy and leadership.
