@AuntiePython @UnnecRoughness Unless they all agree to say F it and quit. Then the the grant of rights is worth as much as the paper it’s written on. Word from meetings today is that things did not go well.
And conference hosted meetings today which apparently did not go well, with some aforementioned schools reportedly leading a rebellion to even go so far as bailing on the conference entirely which would dissolve the TV contract and the ACC as a hole. Dark times. More to come 👀
That brings us to the ACC who has a media deal with ESPN that runs thru 2036 (that’s not a good thing because it’s locked into a price WAY below SEC and Big10). FSU, Clemson and Miami are trying to leverage the conference into giving them more money annually bc their brand
New Big10 commish Tony Petito is like keeping an eye on Oregon and Washington, but with 16 teams already they could be set. Either way there is blood in the pacific waters
For months it appeared as if ESPN wasn’t interested in PAC rights, but as negotiations continue to drag, ESPN is believed to be scheming on a cheap deal for PAC rights. At one point PAC was rumored to be considering an all streaming deal with Apple+ and even CW was rumored lol
ESPN just spent a bag on the SEC, Fox did the same with the Big 10 (NBC and CBS also signed deals with the Big 10). Big12 renewed deals with ESPN and Fox.
@UnnecRoughness Referring to ACC meetings outside of Jacksonville in which reports said 7 schools see the conference as an “untenable situation.” For more context, FSU and other name brand schools are asking for a higher % of TV contract money than less power brand schools.
@theblockspot Do you wake up everyday thinking wow AJ McCarron is the best College Football player of all time, No.
No one will remember this kid in a decade.
