Chiredzi farmers are prioritising "Runinga"/ Sesame over traditional cash crops such as cotton and small grains. Farmers benefit more from Mozambican buyers.
Locally, it is fetching about ZW$80k per tonne while the Mozambicans are paying up to US$ 1 120 USD per tonne

1.Control weeds and maintain a weed free seed bed
2.Spray to control early leaf eaters
3.Ensure that crop is thinned to recommended spacings

Amongst the beneficiaries were widows, elderly farmers and liberation war veterans who received free sesame seeds and pesticides for this planting season. Together we can.
