It’s close to impossible to run a business on 1-2% margin. People don’t choose to need care; hospitals don’t choose to provide free care. Insured patients subsidize charity care. Unfortunately, insured patients need to pay their bill to keep the facilities open. In the end, someone needs to pay to keep the lights on but no one wants to.
