@DougHenwood The financial press really does have perverse interests. A discovery is made that says we might be able to have AI without cooking the planet and their concern is the NVIDIA's stock price? Reminds me of the articles about snack food company profits in the face of Ozempic.
@kareem_carr If race essentialists were right then wouldn’t that be an argument in *favor* of a more socialist society (“from each according to his abilities…”)? If you needed perfect pitch to earn enough money to own a home and have decent health care that would be obviously unfair.
@RuthServenSmith I was at Chicago that year and it happened in the middle of the day. Apparently he was shot while sitting in a bathroom stall and the assassin walked out of the building and was never caught.
@johnedwinmason@LivableCville The recent policy change did eliminate single family zoning city wide. Meaning that it allows multiple dwellings everywhere that is zoned for housing. Or do you mean making new single family homes illegal?
@mtgillikin@realDLeblang@dem8z I think I have said this before, but I have aways thought Haidt is actually smart enough to know better but also knows a good grift when he sees one. Liberals would rather be "fair minded" than have principals so they will invite you into the fold "for balance."
@johnedwinmason You don’t get a bill from the coast guard if you need them to send a helicopter to rescue you from your sinking yacht. Or if you just have an injury.
@johnedwinmason It may not have ended apartheid but it really pissed them off. I was in Cape Town when the Berlin Wall came down. A UK rugby team breaking the boycott was above the fold in the Cape Times and the wall coming down below.
@DeadBasilPlant@KamalaHarris I guess it would be more accurate to say that they're so desperate to win the current election that they're not willing to play the long game based on core beliefs. The republicans spent years in the wilderness (e.g. Goldwater) moving the center continuously to the right.
