I know everyone delights in fighting over this, but the SEC and the Big Ten are clearly emerging as the two major forces. NIL throws some advantage towards some of the Big Ten schools. There are some mammoth endowments and wealthy alumni who can kickstart these rosters. As a Michigan fan, it has clearly helped our revenue sports.

I don’t know what Ohio’s laws are about this, but in Michigan, most contracts with public bodies, even with middlemen involved, ultimately represent responsive records, under freedom of information requests. The general counsel might create a dodge of sorts by saying there are no responsive records, because there’s no record of payment (yet). However, once the middleman starts paying the university, that’s when responsive records get created (usually).

@BigBandTenor @DrunkRepub There were a lot of people still guessing at that point. When people started dying like crazy in Metro Detroit, there probably were tens of thousands of cases already, if not more. I doubt very much the lethality was ever as high as was communicated early on.

That’s a good example. The parts of his movies that are really good ARE really good. The second act of interstellar is one of the coolest visual hours of cinema I’ve ever seen. I have a lot of respect for editors ever since I heard Ivan Reitman talk about how the first cut of animal house was four hours, and no one laughed.

Someone along the lines of a Thelma Schoonmaker, who helped Scorsese (who could have some tendencies in this direction himself).

A family friend passed away years ago and had an estate sale. My mom bought about 20 sepia-toned old photos that this gentleman had collected through the years. It included lines outside the banks in 1929 and smaller US Naval ships being dropped into the river right upon completion. I would’ve loved to see video footage of our town in that era, but even the photos were disarming. We have it so well and have little appreciation for the chaos and sacrifice people endured 80-100 years ago here in the US.
