@CivicChronicle1 I don't think your story will happen, although I wish it would, because Le Pen will need all the European friends she can have to deal with France's little debt problem
@ZeitgeistExplo1 "Let me make up a highly specific and theoretical scenario that cannot work in the real world to rationalize spending more money on my pet causes" - MMT and other Regime "Economists"
@R_Droite US applying their frame to France, Germany applying their frame to France, and vice versa, and all of them wrong. The same way that the leftists who import American woke concepts into European countries; this also doesn't work, and as @fleur_inverse says, it is easily dismissed
@poxesfoxes Based on direct observation, the demonstrations, separate and distinct from the riots and looting, look far more organic than anything else in recent memory. Lots of actual young (and native) people, complete chaos in terms of messages, very few printed slogans.

Go read this, fascinating deep dive into the extreme complexities and layers upon layers of legal and accounting schemes. Leo shows how generations have added more metaphorical duct tape to push the ball down the line for a couple more years.
The current protests by young people are manifest in the data, in that the increases in the education budget went to pay for pensions, not for teachers. A future-oriented right wing would do well to ally with the youth, not with the persistence of a struggling system. Otherwise, for lack of alternatives, the young will be left-wing and continue to vote as such.
He also points out that while some aspects of the budget can be completely managed by the state, others are at least in the current system outside of its control, namely the debt load and the overall economical trajectory of the Euro zone and the whole world. Modern approaches like MMT cannot work in this system which isn't closed upon itself (not that maybe a government won't try them anyways).
What I suspect the best-case scenario for France, and also a template for the whole world to follow afterwards, would be: A crisis, which is surely to come in some shape will force the establishment of a grand compromise, neither left nor right, but for the benefit of the future generations.
It would mean that big fortunes have to contribute more, not because of envy of the poor, but because they realize that they cannot stay wealthy in a destroyed state. It would mean that well-off pensioners who enjoy a uniquely pleasant lifestyle need to cut back, not because they didn't earn that pension, but out of love for the young, who are their future. And yes, it would mean for the young to take this offer and build on it.
The man who can build such a coalition has yet to step up.
New Amphora post.
Rundown of the 2027 budget, French pension system, the burden of the debt embedded within the ministries.
Why everything seems so understaffed and yet so highly funded. Why the student protest started.
And my word on why France will make it.

The events in Paris, with many different groups of people involved at different times & places, get reflected online like in a caleidoscope. Every poster will find an event and a video confirming his prior biases and pet issues. It's a sea of useless reflections of their own ideas
