The French riots are not a problem the French state can solve at this point. And Hegel knew why: Indignation.

He spoke of a rabble that's produced by the modern capitalist state. Just as unimaginable wealth is created by markets and capital, there will likewise be those who are left behind and can't be integrated. They're not simply poor. The rabble's problem is that it cannot sustain its own life through its own work, yet doing exactly that grants a person dignity, self confidence and pride of their own work.

Welfare, sustaining people without their own input, cannot fix the problem of dignity. The rabble has nothing useful to offer to society. They experience it not as a system that can serve its own interests but as a system that functions and reproduces itself without them, wealth they have no part in. So they destroy it. They burn cars. They burn schools. Destroy infrastructure. It's not their state, it's the enemy's, so it's fine.

These people grow up in a society that promises them self actualisation, a decent job, a certain amount of prosperity, yet have no means to realise that. On top of that, we see the indignation take a racial dimension: In their view, the reason they become the rabble is not their inadequacy to the demands of the job market, or the decline of Europe's economy in general, no, the state is racist! And any exclusion is interpreted as racism. The Whites are the enemy.

The symbols of the White French state become unacceptable, as they're the symbols of the Enemy; Palestinian, Moroccan and Algerian flags are chosen, not because they actually feel connected to these Muslim nations, but they're the Friend the Enemy produces by the dialectical movement — you need allies to fight the hated state that will not give you what you want.

The state cannot simply solve the indignation these people feel, out of the massive gap between expectations and reality. Hegel knew it. The state cannot solve indignation on its own. He recommended expanding into other markets, to create an abundance of jobs, or sending the rabble away, into colonies, where they can build a life of their own. That last one is the hint on what we should consider.

Nearly three years after 16-year-old Thomas Perotto was murdered at a village dance in Crépol, French investigating judges have sent 11 defendants to stand trial for murder with anti-French and anti-European racism as an aggravating circumstance.

Judges cited 19 direct witnesses who reported slurs and threats during the attack, including phrases such as "dirty French" "we’re here to kill white people," and "we’re here to stab whites." One defendant also admitted hearing such language.

For decades, Europe’s anti-racism laws have been applied almost exclusively when the victims were non-European. Crimes against Europeans were treated as ordinary violence, even when the words spoken made the motive clear. That this first serious judicial recognition arrives only in 2026 is extraordinary - and overdue.

This case can set a European precedent: the law must protect every victim, including Europeans. Ave Europa hopes Thomas’s family finally receives the justice they deserve, and that Europeans may be safe in their own continent.

In 2026, hostility toward Europeans is rising across the continent. It should be named, prosecuted, and condemned - the same standard applied to every other community.

France is a prime example of Europe's failures in the last 30 years:

- A state obsessed with past glory and power, becoming increasingly irrelevant

- Horrible immigration policy & demographic decline

- Islamisation & Africanisation coupled with both zero interest of the state to apply pressure to integrate or help with it - as well as an eternal victim culture & propensity for violence in migrant communities

- Boomers created an unaffordable welfare state which now just runs on debt that no one can realistically repay

- Farmers, unions, public servants etc. special interest groups unable to compromise to the point of violence

- An intellectual class stuck in the 1970s

- Everyone is angry, increasingly radicalised, no one can compromise or constuctively solve issues.

- Scapegoat culture: "The EU!" "The billionaire class!" "Ukraine!" "Musk!" "Neoliberalism!" instead of self reflection
