🚨🚨Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that the Western Children’s Hospital will be named in honour of former Prime Minister the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, recognising her pivotal role in securing the transformational partnership with China that helped bring the project to life.
Speaking at the MLSS Naming Ceremony, Prime Minister Holness acknowledged that it was Simpson Miller who travelled to China, led negotiations, and returned with the agreement that laid the foundation for what is now one of Jamaica’s most significant healthcare developments for children.
The decision stands as a historic recognition of national service, bipartisan progress, and the enduring impact of leadership dedicated to improving the lives of Jamaican families and children.
The Western Children’s Hospital is expected to play a critical role in strengthening paediatric healthcare services across western Jamaica and the wider country.
The hassle to deposit money at @ScotiabankJM ATMs needs to be studied. I refuse to believe Scotiabank is unaware of this issue. Love the bank but I’m considering switching now because life not supposed to be so hard. Come on Scotiabank Jamaica, fix your machines smh
“But J’ca has to change course. I have a team, that is committed to changing that course; and I, am di DRIVA.”
“Tek you sticky fingers offa poor people money”
“…the dream… for a Jamaica where everyone might not be rich, but no one has to be poor.”

Dr Jason Stanford, a Jamaican medical physicist, has has been arrested in Louisiana, United States on domestic abuse and child endangerment charges. The charges follow an incident involving his spouse at their home in the presence of their two children. Stanford has also been charged with interfering with emergency communications after he allegedly grabbed a phone from the complainant as she tried to call the police. Stanford, a former member of the People's National Party, represented the party as its St Mary Western candidate in the 2020 general election.
I saved a clip of Dr. Nigel Clarke explaining how government ministers’ salaries are actually determined.
We need far more public education on this.
We struggle with Math & Economics at CSEC/CAPE level yet Jamaicans are among the most intelligent ppl you’ll ever meet.
Information changes outrage into understanding🇯🇲
@cha_otti Agreed!
At $28M he is still earning far less than the head of a commercial bank, and he is the steward of the affairs of an entire country with >$3M people.
Well done! The former PMs, especially PSM, were disadvantaged for too long.
I hope the unwillingness to give periodic increases to political directorate is never repeated. Keep pay updated commensurate to the public service so that we avoid this pickle again few years from this
JUST IN: The Office of the Prime Minister, OPM, says Dr. Andrew Holness will accept the full salary and emoluments attached to the office, retroactive to September last year.
That means Dr. Holness will now earn a salary of $28.5 million.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with having to go back to the people if an MP wants to cross the floor.
We’re having this convo now at 30–0 but imagine it was 14–16 and two people crossed. Are we suddenly talking about a new PM without an election? What would happen then?
@cardobrooks I find that regardless of basis, a majority elected you running by and large, on a particular party ticket. To cross without input of the constituents, is an affront. It should trigger a bi-election in my view.
I recently met Brandon who shared his moving story about being rescued during Hurricane Melissa.
Brandon lost both of his arms after being electrocuted while trying to help someone in need.
During Hurricane Melissa, he faced another frightening experience when he was trapped in his home. The Government was able to mobilize and rescue him.
On Friday, Brandon became a beneficiary of our ROOFS Programme, where he is able to rebuild his home following recent damage.
Brandon’s life shows that helping others has meaning, even in difficult moments, and that obstacles do not have to define you and can shape a greater purpose.
We should ignore the noise and proceed full throttle on this. To not see the spin off benefits during construction and after is shortsightedness. Other than the primary reasons, Jamaica needs monuments that add to our tourism product; local and int’l tourists.
Caz why the hell Jamaica Parliament Building stay so bad? Why we don’t have a chamber like this to facilitate citizen participation? They literally have an office for the LOO to have meetings with delegations and stakeholders.
And unnuh online a talk say other things want fix.
Why is not be the other way around? Based on a previous explanation on here, I would think ACH is for big money and rtgs small money. Confusing to me why considering the way how each works as explained some time ago.
