Hey @BSLForCongress I heard your signatures are being challenged. How many of your circulators don’t even live in the community? Heard there was misinformation and lies being spread to get people to sign something that people don’t even know what they’re signing on.
It’s criminal that this 50-acre CHA site in Little Italy has sat vacant for 20 years while Chicago faces a housing crisis. An entire generation of Chicagoans missed out on opportunities for homeownership and rental housing, businesses missed out on customers, and the city missed out on millions in tax revenue. Twenty years of inaction is just unacceptable.
@ChicagoDOH
@streetsblogchi claiming to be a “journalism” is as credible as Fox News claiming to be “Fair and Balanced.” Sigcho calls everyone a nazi, a racist and a Trump supporter.
If Sigcho was such a bike advocate, why hasn’t he done anything in Pilsen? DOT just redid Damen in his ward and I don’t see a single bike lane. Where is the outrage? In fact, Pilsen has the least amount of new bike lanes than any other ward. StreetsBlog could have also inquired why Sigcho blocked the Pilsen Paseo along Cermak which would have added bikes lanes and a walking trail. But noooo time for any of that.
Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez (27) didn’t pull any punches when talking with SBC about the tactics of Trump-friendly Archer traffic safety project opponent Juan Rangel and his allies. "[They] do not represent the public good. They represent their own wallets."

@ChicagoMayor Brandon Johnson is the Mexican uncle that brings 40 of his friends, neighbors and “primos” to your wedding when the invite specifically stated “2 adults.”
IYKYK: Mexican humor
Wild stuff. A democratic socialist running for congress on a housing platform written by the Illinois Municipal League, an organization run by a republican!
Someone get Mamdani on the phone!
I would love to see the list of people that Alderman Sigcho has blocked. I’m pretty sure his list of enemies is longer than that of friends.
What a coward.
@streetsblogchi is the CTU of bike infrastructure. They demonize anyone who disagrees with their almighty hero-complex and if you don’t fully align with their views, you’re stupid, you hate bikes and of course, you’re an evil Trump supporter!!! How does this combative narrative advance their mission of advocating for safe streets? What the fuck does Trump have to do with bike lanes??? This kind of rhetoric will be their downfall and the true casualty of their actions will be a loss of safe streets for bicyclist.
If bike safety is their priority, they need to learn how to bring more people to their tent instead of making more enemies. They need to stop talking down to everyone who disagrees with them and oh, I don’t know, maybe… just listen. Unfortunately, I’m doubtful they will change their ways.
Honestly, I appreciate your commitment to bike infrastructure but you’re going into the deep end of nonsense and your self-righteousness will backfire. When I think of who is responsible for turning more democrats into republicans, it’s people like yourself. People who talk down and ridicule others who disagree with you.
FYI: Not everything is about Trump.
For those who acknowledge we have a national housing crisis but are against more housing, what is your solution? Lowering taxes isn’t going to produce more homes. @ILREALTOR
An @ILREALTOR-commissioned survey shows broad support for key pieces of Gov. JB Pritzker’s BUILD housing plan, especially legalizing ADUs. But it also flashes warning signs on local control and density messaging. The latest: https://t.co/vUH00WprwJ
@Lmoya21@jvrz1887 It’s amazing that the village clown (and his wife) who spent their careers chastising TIFs were suddenly supportive of not only continuing TIFs but expanding them. If the Pilsen TIF expansion failed, he only has himself to blame.
@jvrz1887 Respectfully. Shitshow isn’t the village idiot, he’s the village clown. An idiot has some level of ignorance, a clown puts on a show to entertain people.
Ald. Dowell to Ald. Quezada: “Did you contact any property owner groups, such as the Chicago Association of Realtors, regarding this ordinance that impacts them the greatest?”
Ald. Quezada: “No, I did not.”
Motion passed anyway.
(O2025-0019933) Amendment of Municipal Code Section 5-12-130 to require 30-days written notice from landlord of rental agreement termination for tenancies under 6 months.
If you live in any area that’s not blue on this map: your aldermen wants you to have FEWER housing options.
They chose to limit accessory dwelling units (often used as starter homes for young families, or housing for seniors).
Tell your alderman today to stop micromanaging.
The irony of this picture is it reflects the local DSA arrogance toward real experience.
Anthony, a appointed alder, with little real world business experience, talks back to a man with years of restaurant experience.
When your wondering what's wrong with Chicago..consider this dynamic.
