India is the way it is because of Indian cultural norms.

Hundreds of millions of Indians still defecate in the fields even though the government has built millions of toilets. The Indian government says it is a cultural problem, as is the dumping of trash everywhere and anywhere. The Indian government says these are cultural problems.

India has had "Clean India" programs for 20 years attempting to change the filthy habits. They even brought in a "No Toilet, No Marriage" program in an attempt to convince women to make having a toilet as a condition of marriage. Some progress is being made but hundreds of millions of Indians still remain uncivilized.

These filthy habits and lack of respect for the environment and other people are cultural norms that Indians are importing into Canada.

Even in the 1960s I grew up in Hamilton with an Indian family (the Barry family) as neighbours and friends - but they were westernized and did their best to assimilate. Mr. Barry worked as a mechanical engineer at Stelco. (I know the jokes, but he was an actual engineer.)

The point is we never saw these filthy habits from Indian Canadians until the last 30 years of mass migration from India. Brampton, Ontario and Surrey BC might as well be India now. The roads and rural roads just ourside those communities are now garbage dumps... because that is the Indian culture brought to Canada.
