@Kia so I call @KiaCarmel on the assumption that @skillmansouth is one of these dealers who is hard to work with. The guy there says "we definitely don't handle that. you need to go to Kia customer service." 8/

@Kia customer service even said "the dealerships don't like to handle rentals so they'll tell you to come to us, but they are definitely supposed to do it." wow 7/

@Kia So I did call Kia customer service, and they told me the dealership is absolutely supposed to handle loaners and rental issues - and that Kia would reimburse me assuming the work was covered under warranty. 6/

@Kia the person at @skillmansouth said they don't do loaners or rentals but I was welcome to arrange my own rental and Kia might reimburse me directly. Told me I had to call them. 5/

@Kia then @skillmansouth told me I could drop the car off but they'd need it for several days because they needed to get Kia HQ involved since it's a new car. I asked about interim transportation. 4/

@Kia for background, I was driving my 2022 Sorento PHEV that has 7500 miles on it this weekend when the instrument cluster went dark. no speedometer, no blind spot monitoring, nothing. at 70mph 2/

@danbureau I think there is a much bigger question here: Is a doctorate in HESA ever the right way to go now? I'd say there are lots of pathways to top jobs in the coming years. Law degrees, military background, business acumen, etc.

@danbureau Big part of the issue is that institutions refuse to normalize non-degree credentials. The framing in pieces like this totally presupposes the degree as exclusive pursuit.
