Failure is not missing a target or falling short of a goal. Failure is succeeding in the wrong things or with the wrong motives. Success looks a lot like faithfulness to the right things with the right motives…regardless of the results.
The salvation Jesus gives is freedom from the vain chase to find peace and meaning in even the good things in this life. Finding peace with God and meaning in Christ frees us up to savor the good things that we are so quick to make our saviors.
If you do not think of biblical community as family, you will not stick around through the awkward, difficult and inconvenient moments for it to become beautiful and life-changing and all that God intended for it to be.
