Everyone should do this...
Figure out what works for you. You are an individual who has unique gifts, talents, and abilities.
Many posts today start or end with, "Everyone should do this," but don't listen to them.
I don’t have a fancy Christmas reflection for you this year except the words of Palestinian Evangelical Pastor, Rev. Munther Isaac:
“If Jesus were born today, he would be born under the rubble in Gaza.”
This artistic representation may offend some western sensibilities but to people in physical violence & oppression, this Jesus is good news.
If Jesus were born today, would we miss him? Because of our apathy to injustice today (including the 9000 children murdered in Gaza this Advent season), I’m convinced that as a western church, we largely would.
May the light of God shine even through our darkness as the Church this Christmas season.
@RawTheology Wow, I was really surprised by this interview. I really resonate with what she said. I just purchased her book so I can go a little deeper. Maybe I'm Eastern Orthodox and didn't know it?
I stay in hotels regularly.
3 small things would make such a big difference.
1. A simple thermostat.
2. A constant fan setting that works so it doesn’t go on and off through the night.
3. Enough in room coffee for the duration of my stay.
Why aren’t these done?
Managing a team is hard. This week I've been dealing with a conflict between two members of my team.
Here are three takeaways:
1. Be generous. What you give away multiplies when it comes back.
2. Don't be a victim. Even if it isn't fair.
3. Focus on what you can control
Would you rather:
1. Learn from someone teaching "what they are already doing successfully", i.e. my newsletter generates $10M, let me show you how.
2. Learn by observing those who are successful but not teaching.
X is full of #1 but real success comes from #2.
Life is too short and unfortunately we don’t get that perspective soon enough.
So we make life altering decisions for selfish happiness instead of selfless love.
Made a huge mistake on our trip to Canada last weekend.
Didn’t have the right roaming plan and got a $1200 roaming bill.
Decided it will be a learning experience for my sons. Together we will figure out how to make $1200 to pay the bill.
Any ideas for us?
@Jessie_Webtopia I’m surprised there is no one pushing back on this. I used to believe and preach this. However, in the real world a lot of sales happen from sources that can’t be measured.
Get 1% better every day and in 1 year you will be 365% better. That's bullshit.
I used to love that idea. I heard it again on a podcast and realized, it is feel-good crap.
You can't get 1% better every day. Improvement is not linear. And 1% isn't measurable.
@geoffbaron Again, my disagreement is that you think the GOP wants to see dead Ukrainians. And that the Biden administration is altruistic in helping the underdog. I think it is a proxy war with the goal of deposing Putin. They've said as much. And that is dangerous to all of us.
