“It is very easy to build churches in which seekers congregate; it is very hard to build churches in which biblical faith is maturing into genuine discipleship.”
David Wells
It’s almost impossible to overstate the positive impact we can have on others if we come to church looking for ways to be an encouragement.

This quote from @rayortlund hit me hard tonight as my Bailee and I started reading, The Gospel: How The Church Portrays the Beauty of Christ. I’m praying for our church and others in our community. We need this!
This is sad but true. What happened to grace and love for our brothers? Jesus calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Doesn’t His command have implications for the way we treat those who disagree with us on any level? Especially fellow believers? https://t.co/ik5OvBHlTN
A thought hit me this a.m. I’ve debated Muslim apologists in the Middle East, some of whom think I should be killed as a former Muslim, telling them Jesus is the only way & Islam is false worship, and I did not receive comments like some I receive from fellow Xians over politics.
Life is brutal.
And beautiful.
And harsh.
And holy.
Jesus is at all times good. He is at all times life, truth, love, light.
He is the way and the way-maker.
He is at all times near, especially to the brokenhearted.
He is joy in tribulation.
He is Immanuel.
He is God with us.
What does it mean to pursue active reading rather than passive?...In the Scripture, this kind of Bible reading is compared to tracking down treasure with vehemence. It is not compared to lying down and waiting for a grape to fall in our mouth.
—John Piper
“We cannot prefer the light when we love the dark...(John 3:19). Our problem is not that there is insufficient light shining from the Scriptures. Our problem is that we love darkness.” @JohnPiper Reading the Bible Supernaturally
