just hit $10k this month in my own business.
two months ago i was an employee.
the skill that made the jump possible? sales. the same one i spent years sharpening in a job i took specifically because i knew i'd need it eventually.
it wasn't luck. it was a play i made years ago
Words I wish I heard growing up:
College isn't worth it unless you want to be an employee forever.
If you want to build something of your own:
Skip college, get into sales. Learn the #1 skill that makes businesses run.
On the side, develop until you can go all in on something
Most people work jobs they hate and fill the void by buying materials to signal to others they are "successful."
Bigger house
Better car
Nicer clothes
This cycle of buying locks them further in their work they don't enjoy, to pay the expenses.
Haven't we realized this trap?
Go to school.
Get a job.
Work 40+ years.
Retire old and tired.
Most people don't realize this is just a "template" that was given to us.
Those who do, typically end up creating their own.
Most people don't know how much food impacts your life.
Eat junk → bad chemicals → bad mood → bad actions → worse life
Eat whole food → good chemicals → good mood → better actions → better life
Eat when you’re hungry.
Drink when you’re thirsty.
Sleep when you’re tired.
Work when you’re energized.
Most people have lost touch with the signals their body gives them, and make up for it through information excess and obsessive “fad” diets.
Listen and honor your body.
Whatever increases, decreases, limits or extends the body’s power of action, increases decreases, limits, or extends the mind’s power of action. —Spinoza (1632–1677)
Most people are trying to "improve" their relationships while neglecting the most important one:
Your body.
When was the last time you were present with yourself?
Felt gratitude for your organs, nerves, legs, hands?
Get to know your body, better.
Listen to it
It speaks
Notice when you:
- go for the snack when you're not hungry
- blast music loud in your ears constantly
- pick up your phone and click apps randomly
You're running away from something.
What is it? Have we lost the ability to be present?
Most people don't realize they are being driven by "parts" of them just pursuing goals to become "worthy"
Those who do unlock the path to their true self.
