I hope most districts realize school is not 8-4 reality for students now. Homes w/ 1 computer, no computer, kids waiting to use a computer, taking care of siblings, helping parents, parents working, parents unemployed, people sick. Teachers focus is needs of kids not a schedule
Tips for districts, admin, & teachers for communicating now:
* don’t overwhelm w/ too many emails or lengthy emails
* don’t reply all unless it affects all
* limit communication in evenings.
* Allow 24 hr to reply
* limit communication on weekend
* you’re not available 24/7
Many parents may be feeling "teacher tired" this week. I hope all educators ( staff, teachers, & admin) and parents focus on self care this weekend. There is nothing in the education world that can't wait until Monday.
It would be ashamed if education comes out of this pandemic only to return to status quo. There hasn't been an opportunity for such sweeping changes in education for the last half century.
Less testing
More adaptability
Improved family/school partnership
Let kids learn like kids
