This week I start my new role as Professor of Practice in Health and Care Improvement at @WarwickBSchool. I'm excited to be part of the new centre for health & care improvement that WBS is establishing. I will continue to act as Strategic Advisor to @HorizonsNHS. There is such potential in the interface between change leadership practice & research.
The benefit of the hype around large language models is the indirect way it is reminding us that the skill shortage has always been the ability to ask great questions, not knowing answers. #futureofwork
Be forthright. Say what you think. Challenge nonsense. Make others justify positions. Advocate for views. Hold people accountable. Push for better. Fight.
When you do all this always do so with respect, courtesy, & in the real possibility you might be badly wrong.
We admire the change agents, the advocates and the rebels. We ask ourselves quietly where they get the strength. We might be better to ask why they need the strength.

Always be seeking, scanning the horizon. Move towards others who are moving, release tension, shake off old habits. You will be rewarded at some point, because you will be freer, further ahead when things need change faster and at larger scale.
