🇺🇦 A Brave Young Woman with a Big Heart: In Memory of Mariichka Vlasiuk, Who Saved Hundreds of Soldiers and Gave Her Life for Ukraine
Mariichka Vlasiuk was born in 1994 in the Rivne region of Ukraine. From childhood, she was active, determined, and always among the best in sports.
After surviving two car accidents, she decided to dedicate her life to helping others. She trained as a paramedic and began working in a hospital. But when she saw wounded soldiers returning from eastern Ukraine, she realized she could not live as if everything in the country was normal.
In 2017, she signed a contract with Ukraine’s 80th Air Assault Brigade. She completed military training, made more than 20 parachute jumps, and attended advanced courses in Lithuania.
Her comrades described her as one of the bravest women they had ever met. Friends remembered her as kind, sincere, and fearless.
Mariichka regularly joined evacuation missions directly under enemy fire. She helped rescue wounded soldiers from Mariupol, Shyrokyne, Izium, and the Kharkiv region.
While racing to field hospitals, she treated casualties inside the vehicle, often saving lives during those critical minutes. As she once said, “When someone beside you is bleeding to death, it hurts deeply to watch.”
She saved hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers. In April 2022, she was awarded the Order for Courage, Third Class.
She dreamed of becoming a trauma surgeon, loved French Bulldogs, and had many plans for the future.
On May 24, 2022, near Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, she was on her way to evacuate more wounded soldiers when her route came under mortar fire. Mariichka was killed by shrapnel. She was only 27 years old.
Her whole life was still ahead of her.
Instead, she gave it for Ukraine.
Eternal honor and remembrance to this heroine.
