Each quote asset provider must maintain a 200k HYPE stake for 3 years which is slashable if the quote asset does not meet the following set liquidity requirements for more than 3 days

1) 100k USDC in buy and sell liquidity at +-0.2% on QUOTE/USDC

2) 1M USDC in buy and sell liquidity at +-1% on QUOTE/USDC

3) 50k QUOTE in buy and sell liquidity at +-0.5% on QUOTE/HYPE

Some Observations:

1) Conditions 1 & 2 mean this currently only applies to USD stablecoins -- they will expand to non-stable quote assets in a future upgrade

2) Conditions 1-3 potentially imply HL will natively allow for orderbook hops

3) Interestingly, there are no liquidity requirements on ANY/QUOTE orderbooks

This would obviously set the bar a lot higher and there are already many tickers with very illiquid orderbooks on Hypercore, but I think it would make sense to introduce basic minimum liquidity requirements on all orderbooks to make sure they are actually usable. HIP-3 already imposes requirements that ensure sufficient liquidity on permissionless perps

Something like a minimum of $20-40k of liquidity on both sides would make sense imo -- any serious project has the means for that (they already put up $100k+ in AMM liquidity) and any meme launchpad can easily collect $80k in liquidity before bonding

We will soon see every stablecoin on HL and major Unit asset as a quote asset on Hypercore + more

With 8+ stablecoins and 3 major Unit assets already, we can safely count 2.2M HYPE as locked for the next 3 years

There just is not enough HYPE to go around.
