As a Brit I've finally come to admit that the UK is in significant decline.
Pretty much every day I have to deal with something that pisses me off about this country.
The levels of service have drastically deteriorated and if you want to get someone to do something you have to chase them up about 10 times before they get their arse into gear.
Maybe I'm just too used to being in markets, but the apathy with which people take to respond to things is just off the charts now. People take enquiries and simply don't act on them until they have to, yet they will ask you for a deposit or payment up front.
A once charming culture of politeness is now tainted with laziness and a pure lack of drive. You rarely meet anyone who seems motivated in their life let alone their job.
This country now operates at the pace of a small island, a daunting fall from grace after once being perceived as the financial capital of the world.
People here are not incentivised to innovate, they are not incentivised to work hard, and most brutally, most seem to accept the status quo of living a sub-par life of being chained to a corporation.
Oh and to top it all off, the struggling Labour government will likely double capital gains taxes by the end of this month just to make sure they drive out as many people as possible.
Don't forget the rising crime rates and always feeling the need to look over your shoulder, even if you walk among the most prestigious streets of London, and God forbid you have to take a flight with British Airways, giving you a >50% probability of a delay.
I am sick of having to rage-write 1-star Trust Pilot reviews because it is the only forum in which I can vent to the world and feel like someone will read it.
32 years of living here this country is the lowest it's ever been and lacks complete energy in every sense of the world. It is a stark contrast when you visit the USA, Middle East or Asia, where people seem to have the basic understanding of getting shit done, and are appropriately incentivised to do so.
Just sad to see it really for somewhere where I grew up and used to feel proud about championing.
