Anthropic dropped Fable 5 this week and the glaze went nuclear. So 1 dev rigged a fight: 2 models, 1 task build Minecraft from scratch, in the browser, no game engine.

The rules weren’t fair. On purpose.

ChatGPT got reference images of the game. Unlimited retries.

Fable 5 gets 0 images. 1 attempt. No mercy.

ChatGPT went first. 6 hours of compute. 2,110 lines of code.

He opened the file expecting garbage.

Day/night cycle. A working inventory with textured blocks. Trees you can break and place. Transparent water you can mine the thing real Minecraft never let you do. F3 pulls up a live FPS counter and XYZ coordinates.

It looked like the 2010 alpha build. Running on a potato PC. $0 in dev salaries.

Microsoft paid $2.5B for this game. A prompt rebuilt it before dinner.

And here’s the bait on the hook: that was the weaker model’s run.

The "jailbreak" wasn't super serious (a situation anyone who has ever received bug reports is familiar with), Anthropic thought the demand to halt model was absurd, and Fed Gov used opportunity to punish and humiliate Anthropic for the prior sins of not bending knee.
