OTD seven years ago, Archil Tatunashvili, from Akhalgori in the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region and a veteran of the 2008 Russian-Georgian war, was illegally arrested in Akhalgori on false charges of 'genocide' and links to Georgian security services. He was abducted, tortured and killed in the custody of the occupying forces, and his body was handed over to the Georgian authorities a month later - without any internal organs. Under Argentina’s failed 2020 rent control law, landlords fled, tenants faced shortages and skyrocketing costs, and many rentals were driven into Airbnb-style black markets. With government-imposed pricing, landlords were trapped in bad contracts, forced to accept depreciating peso payments, and many chose to keep properties empty rather than rent legally.

Now, with restrictions gone, landlords can freely negotiate contracts, tenants have more options and lower real prices, and the market is stabilizing. Even real estate brokers say it's the best competition for renters in years.
