Shivam Dube quit cricket at 14 because his family had nothing left. His dad Rajesh leased out his factory, fell into depression, and cried every single day.
When things got better, Rajesh built a pitch at home and gave him 100s of throwdowns daily because coaches only gave him 1 hour a week. He made him bat for eight hours. He watched him go from 110 kg to 75 kg through pure grind and belief.
That World Cup medal? Always belonged to his father. 🏆🇮🇳
My classmate was raped on her way back home from university and got pregnant, but couldn’t get an abortion due to the laws. She had to drop out of university where she was studying medicine. Because of pregnancy and childbirth expenses, she couldn’t continue her studies, left college, started working at a coffee shop, lost the fun of her early twenties, and lost the chance to attend international medical conferences she once dreamt of… all just to give birth to a child she never wanted.
People say, “What if the baby you abort grows up and cures cancer?”
Okay — but what if the 19-year-old you deny an abortion to grows up and cures cancer?
Now she can’t afford to get an education. Instead, she has to take care of a baby. What about her? An actual living human being???
“Abortion ends potential life”… So do property disputes, war, and genocide. You only seem to care about lives when women don’t give birth to them.
In 1841, a 12-year-old boy changed the history of one of the world’s most beloved flavors: vanilla. 🌼🌼🌼
His name was Edmond Albius, an enslaved boy on the island of Réunion, a French colony.
At the time, vanilla could only produce fruit in Mexico, where it was naturally pollinated by a specific species of bee. Everywhere else in the world, the flowers bloomed, but never formed pods.
While working in his master’s garden, Edmond carefully studied the delicate vanilla orchid. He discovered that a thin membrane inside the flower prevented natural pollination. Using a small stick, he gently lifted the membrane and manually brought the pollen into contact with the female part of the flower.
It was a simple gesture, but it changed everything.
His method of hand-pollination is still used today. Thanks to his discovery, Réunion and later Madagascar became global centers of vanilla production.
Although Edmond never received the wealth or recognition he deserved and died in poverty, every vanilla pod grown outside Mexico traces back to the ingenuity of a 12-year-old boy who simply paid attention.
