@iconawrites I still look up words I don't know; but I used to do that all the time when I was a kid because I read so many books written in the 18th & 19th centuries.
@bellabee13 Thank you for saying this.
I grieved the loss of my grandpa while he was alive thanks to Alzheimer's, while I was his caregiver and after. He only just passed this summer, but I've been grieving him bit by bit for 10 years now.
The best thing we can do for kids is give them early exposure to reading. Books are a refuge in the chaos & confusion of adolescence. Books cultivate interiority and imagination. They take us at our most awkward and self-hating and say, “You’re not the first person to feel this.”
whenever a man says “childless women contribute nothing to society,” the ghost of the famously unmarried Jane Austen rises and says, “you are such a disagreeable man that it would be quite a misfortune to be liked by you.”
@thatteenagejew It was a lot of waiting in between things. And a lot of information all at once when I got information. And so many decisions.
And I still had to do all my "normal" stuff on top of having cancer.
It sucked.
Cancer sucks.
💙💙💙
@thatteenagejew I didn't realize that either. There was the mammogram. Then waiting for the biopsy.
Waiting for the results.
Doing labs and waiting for those results.
Consult with my surgeon.
Eventually surgery after deciding on treatment.
Then recovery.
Then radiation.
Abuse is always fruit borne by the abuser. It is never caused by the victim. All victims, children, or adult, need understanding and protection, not blame.

Nobody will remember:
-To check park websites for current info
-To wear appropriate footwear
-To not feed wild animals
People will remember:
-That time you warned against pushing slower friends down to escape a bear.
Even if the friendship has run its course.
nobody will remember:
- your salary
- how “busy you were”
- how many hours you worked
people will remember:
- your dance skills
- your delicate compliments
- how fortunate you've been as to be distinguished by the patronage of the Right Honourable Lady Catherine de Bourgh
@TheAmberPicota 💙💙💙 right there with you. Having to be strong all the time just sucks. And panic attacks suck.
Deep breaths. Use your other senses. Count things. Ground yourself.
You are here. You are loved. You are not alone. 💙💙💙
