If Issa Rae didn’t create a low budget web series with her friends, HBO would’ve never seen her talent enough to cut her a deal.
Make your art. Put it out. Just do it.
Someone could be going through their darkest time in life. Then they see a film, listen to a song, read a book, hear a comedy routine, or see a painting & suddenly in their darkness appears a light. I don’t care how hard the business is don’t give up on your art! It holds power
Before we run to judge people who “aren’t doing enough to heal” I want to remind us all that while trauma is FREE and available to ANYone, healing is expensive AF, and not accessible to all. -Dr. Jen
I hope that more people who experience this become very loud about this type of emotional abuse (manipulation through lying is just that... abuse). We can no longer normalize this behavior and perpetuate traumatic cycles. Save yourself and be your sister's {people's} keeper.
A man changed his flight to see me for 5 min. During the 5 min he told me he was going to a wedding that day. Facebook showed me pics the next day of him being the GROOM!!!!
this is stupid. why are therapists held to the same ethical, moral, and compliance standards as physicians but expected to work for significantly less?
@thegmichelle I created a wellness cookbook called A Palate For Love! It has recipes & wellness exercises in it. I’ve also created a line of handmade glass cups

@thegmichelle Hey Michelle! We definitely have to reconnect soon!
I am Chalice, a licensed professional counselor in Georgia and I recently created a therapy journal to help those in therapy experience its benefits well beyond the session.

There are people who have left my office thinking I'm a great therapist.
And there are others who have left thinking I'm a bit shit.
Both perspectives are true.
No matter what, I cannot be a great therapist for everyone - it's just not possible.
I do try though.
Actual things insurance companies do to therapists:
"Ooh sorry, this note doesn't contain information on how the client is progressing on [one very specific treatment goal], so we aren't going to pay you for the session you did."
"We decided we were paying you too much in 2021, so here's a bill for $5,000."
"Oh your rate is $185 per hour? Here is $70. But it won't arrive for 2 more months."
Yet, people are still mad at the therapists.
What else did I miss? Tell me in the replies.
