I heard a famous piece of classical music at my niece's dance recital. I couldn't remember the title, so I did the solfege in my head, typed it into Google, and...no dice, so now I'm wondering what all those musicianship classes in college were even for.
People of #edutwitter, I'm transitioning from the classroom to my first administrative role next year. Looking to put together a summer reading list to help me be a more effective assistant principal. Suggestions?
Also open to any and all advice you may have.
Thanks in advance!
Doesn't matter if it's rain or shine or even a blizzard the day before Spring Break, our @bvillelakers principal Mr. Murray is outside the front doors every morning to welcome students to school!
I had share some program notes at a performance tonight. Instead of spending the time to do my own research on each piece and composer, I had ChatGPT find the info for me and summarize it into 3-5 important points. Saved me a ton of time and helped me be more concise.
What we tried to do today: go skiing
What we actually did: used a ski pole and antenna to break into the car after we locked the keys inside.
Maybe next time we'll actually make it onto the slopes.
And special shout-out to @RJofToday, @mowiddison, @irvrhees, and @blaketeaches at WSD DT&L for turning it into a sticker so I can put it up somewhere I can see it every day!
I've been thinking about my educational leadership philosophies lately. Inspired by @DrBradJohnson, I decided to turn them into alliterative affirmations.
-Compassion over compulsion
-People before paperwork
-Vision creates value
I'm not saying we let our kids watch too much Bluey, but 3yo just invented a game called Garbage Can and then stopped mid-game to say, "This episode of me is called Garbage Can."
@LatterdayLikes My mom lives in the Phoenix area, so I do the drive at least once a year.
We typically take the Vegas route. It's the easiest drive, least likely to have bad weather, and you're never more than an hour away from a @Maverik.
The middle route is prettier though.
January: "We'll support the kids in whatever they want to do, but I really hope it isn't soccer."
February: "I guess we can sign 3yo up for rec soccer."
March: "I can coach 3yo's soccer team if they still need a coach. "
That escalated quickly.
@howie_hua I like flipping to do 150% of 80. I know 50% of 80 is 40, and 40*3 is 120.
I also know that 80%=4/5, and 150 is easily divisible by 5, so 1/5 of 150 is 30, times 4 is 120.
@SharonGF_NBCT Ironic that they want to use a book rating system to enforce censorship when the MPAA rating system developed for movies literally was designed to counteract the problem of censorship through empowering parents.

I had a student in my ACT Prep class leave the note on the left on my board at the end of class Monday. After some practice and review in today's class, she left the note on the right. Happy to see her gaining more confidence and celebrating the small wins.
