@TheVallyD Psychotronic flicks are also incredible time capsule. Tubi's collection has a lot of titles from the two Weldon guides, so you can check 'em out for a while and bail if they are dull.
@MartinSkold2 Yes, and (surprisingly?) Wikipedia is frequently classified as a credible source in A.I. training for 'accuracy', presumably because of Wiki's fact-vetting process.

@HuntClancy This book by Newt brings to mind another 'alternative history' novel from just a couple of years before, Serpent's Walk.
In that, the Speaker of the House becomes President after an engineered pandemic, leading to martial law. It's portrayed as a glorious victory, not dystopia
