@IGLConnect very disappointed. Customercare on ph disconnects after 2 mins of holding, app says error & email says wait 48 hours. Human being calls & says we will attend within 6 days! I agree it’s not an emergency but this is crazy.
@kmr_dilip I don’t have the skills to set up a start up but I want to be involved if anyone does! Need more women to play so that more kids can play. Spent a lifetime covering sports only to realise now that even those who can afford to play, prefer to watch.
Who next after Sania? Watch one of the upcoming stars of tennis, 15 year old Maaya Rajeshwaran in the semis of this WTA event in Mumbai. Its on the SPORTZWORKZ youtube channel today, 7th Feb, 2024 from 4 pm onwards. Thanks @virenrasquinha for the alert! PC-Indian Tennis Daily

#Paralympics - Congrats to @suhas_ly
for winning a second consecutive silver medal at the Paralympics in Badminton. Courtesy Anasuya Mathur & #NDTV’s #SamarthByHyundai campaign, I was able to interview this engineer turned IAS officer, which was a great privilege.
Airlines are unfriendly towards senior citizens & children in general. On @etihad when I travelled with my 3 year old & asked for more water for maybe the third time in 4 hours, the air hostess said - now what do you want! Can’t they just keep extra water in designated spots?
Another example of #IndigoFirstPassengerLast. An elderly couple on my flight had paid for seats in row 4 so they wouldn't have to walk much. Without an explanation, #Indigo changed it to seat 19. The gentleman was going to struggle to walk till row 19 in a narrow passage. But who cares. A few people had to make a noise, point out the immorality and only then, thanks to the pleasant cabin crew were the original seats restored. But, and this is the point, they had to make a noise otherwise Indigo was going to get them to walk till 19, and check after boarding was complete, if they could be assigned 4, which meant they would have to walk back. The elderly lady was meekly complaining about how this is a common occurrence and how it is stressful for people their age to travel #Indigo. "I wish they didn't have a monopoly" she said. Such a pity. I am sure @IndiGo6E, you can sensitise your ground staff to put the passenger first occasionally. It was so disappointing to see how casually they were moving elderly passengers. With success comes responsibility. As someone who is proud of a successful Indian enterprise, I hope you can be more sensitive and not institutionalise this uncaring attitude.
@anandmahindra its not about the medals, we have enough to celebrate. Indians were in with a chance in so many sports. But on a separate note maybe we should send more athletes to USA for the NCAA which had 330 medals from 26 countries in Paris! Past, present & incoming students.
I’m extremely proud, of course, of our valiant medal winners of the Paris Olympics.
But I have to confess a sense of distress when seeing our overall ranking plummet.
Everyone usually has a great theory about what we need to do to live up to our potential & garner a respectable number of medals given our population.
But I admit I’ve run out of thoughts and am confused.
The Government has clearly spent a good deal of money & the incentives upon winning are plentiful—both at state & national level.
The quality of sports infrastructure has dramatically improved. Both within the public & private sectors.
The Private sector players have chipped in handsomely, most notably OGQ, Jindal Sports.
Schools have put more emphasis on sport.
Even the national mindset has changed & there is a huge interest in our athletes & we celebrate them with fervour.
So WHAT on earth is it that prevents us from finding world-beating talent in Olympic sports??
@mihirsv have always been a fan but at these Olympics you have taken it up a notch! Loved the line about Jaspal Rana eating chips at sleepy Chateroux could constitute ‘noise pollution! Keep up the great work. #SportsNewsYouCanUse
My personal statement on Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification:
Vinesh and the entire team that worked with her are devastated with the disqualification from the Paris Olympics. I have tried to answer some questions that have been asked to me since yesterday morning.
Dear @Phogat_Vinesh ,
Over the last 25yrs I have been fighting in courts against sports federations & it’s bosses but have not come across even one legend like you who has openly fought the corrupt, corroded & conflicted sports system which is totally unaccountable &opaque. (1/n)
Among all the coaches, trainers and physics, my favourite support staff in Paris, Beacon, the official therapy dog of the US gymnastics team. Going by how many medals Simone and the others have got, he's doing a pretty good job!
@DrPragyaAgarwal @eurosport This bias is inherent - a leading sports media company in India makes this the ‘click-bait’ - using trolls to diss an Olympian who is competing while being away from her 19 month old child.
