There's a wave of movement to ban data centers in the US. They need massive amounts of water and electricity to be powered. I don't know, they say AI is "intelligence" but it feels like an entity or living thing. Why does it need so much more of our natural resources?

We use AI for such silly things - yet, we remain blind sided or ignore the direct impact AI support systems have on our environment and the people who live where infrastructure is located. Would we in time be able to say as a human race no to AI to save our environment?
