Morrocco, a place I visited on a work jolly in my early twenties. A place where the low IQ perverted men block shop exits to try and keep you inside or having to squeeze your body against theirs to leave. A place that I would advise no woman to visit alone. A shithole.
Why would anyone suppose large populations of this culture would fit in in the west?
"We don't want you. We don't need you."
On Sunday, Fifa suspended US striker Folarin Balogun's one-match ban so he could play in the knockout loss to Belgium. The next day, Donald Trump admitted he had called Fifa president Gianni Infantino to ask for that review to happen.
On Novara Live, @ayocaesar argues that the US culture of “sports entertainment” is more concerned with delivering spectacle than the tradition of international competition.
Hey, bloody yanks. You realise how much you fucked up? To make the French support Belgium in football, is like... If the red sox would support the yankees.
My initial thoughts on the Trump/FIFA scandal:
1. Let’s hope it’s resolved on the pitch and Belgium beat the USA. That doesn’t remove the stain but it at least means this World Cup can continue without an asterisk.
2. UEFA and its member associations appear as one on this scandal. UEFA should now put in process preliminary moves to disaffiliate from FIFA and establish a new global governance structure if Infantino doesn’t resign.
3. Unfortunately, the USA team must now face sporting sanctions. They should be barred from competing in the next World Cup and should be ruled out as potential future hosts of the tournament for the next 2 or 3 bids.
4. Any sanction on the US team from competing in future competitions should be less severe - or even rescinded entirely - if they unilaterally decide not to use Balogun at all in tonight’s game. That places a terrible burden on Pochettino and obviously no formal guarantees can be made. But the sporting thing to do would be to choose not to play Balogun and it merits recognition if they take this path.
5. If the USA beat Belgium, other teams should unite behind an effort to expel them from the competition before the quarterfinals begin and their place given to Belgium (or their opponents given a bye to the semifinal).
6. It’s a crying shame that Trump’s crass idiocy and the behaviour of Infantino/FIFA have taken the shine off what has otherwise been a truly fantastic tournament. Everyone with a love of the game should continue to call out their appalling behaviour in public alongside any legal action taken.
More thoughts to follow as they come to me.
That’s exactly the precedent that has been set now. That‘s why this should have never happened, regardless of whether you think it was a red card for Balogun or not.
We will now have politicians of every country call FIFA after every single World Cup game for all kinds of controversial decisions - making our sport a lot less enjoyable.
🚨 FRENCH FOOTBALL FEDERATION STATEMENT:
“The racist remarks by Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla targeting Kylian Mbappé are utterly abhorrent and unacceptable. How can anyone make such statements? These remarks are criminal and reprehensible. They must be prosecuted here as elsewhere.
The FFF is filing a report with the prosecutor's office for the purpose of judicial action.
The Federation extends its full support to its captain, its players, and more generally to all victims of such odious remarks. Now more than ever, the FFF is committed to fighting racism and all forms of discrimination. These remarks dishonor those who make them and those who spread them. The players of the France National Team represent France; it is our country that is being insulted.”
Good grief...paraguayana comments are so violent and offensive -in any civilised society this lady would be in prison
@FFF should protest this and take it with @InfantinoGianni the incompetent and corrupt
Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla posted these comments about Kylian Mbappé after France's 1-0 win over Paraguay in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 (upset he didn't shake hands with their GK):
"A colonized Cameroonian, pretending hard to be French, resentful, newly rich, arrogant, and ugly. He was nervous and scared to death the whole match... The only thing many of us demanded of the Albirroja is not to have slapped him open-handed after the match ended."
And: "This brute hasn’t even learned to write. Instead of breastmilk, he grew up sucking on coconuts, and the most educated creatures he ever heard were chimpanzees. You should’ve given him the middle finger, Orlando Gill. I do it in the senate and nothing happens."
The FFF called the remarks criminal/racist and is filing charges. Mbappé responded calling her despicable and racist.
The appeals just keep coming:
France have appealed to FIFA to request Michael Olise’s yellow card against Paraguay is rescinded.
Increasingly feels like FIFA have lost control of their World Cup here.

Cruz: On behalf of all Americans, thank you for getting rid of that ridiculous red card.
President Trump: That was interesting.
Cruz: It was spectacular. There was a reason the FIFA trophy sat here for as long as it did
