Juneteenth marks the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved Black Americans in 1865 — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. As attacks on Black history grow louder, honoring Juneteenth is more important than ever. Freedom is worth celebrating! Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth marks the delayed freedom of enslaved people in Texas in 1865. Today, we celebrate, reflect, and renew our commitment to the ongoing work of liberation for all.

Today, we acknowledge and honor Juneteenth, our TRUE Independence Day.
On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, finally received the news of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
From then until now, Black joy, Black power, and Black culture continue to thrive against all odds. We couldn't be stopped then, and we won't be stopped now.
