Housing affordability is one of the biggest issues favour our nation. The proposed citizen’s assembly can help to break the policy deadlock & inertia from government that has led to housing becoming unaffordable for millions of Australians

Kyle is right!
Citizens' assemblies help open up the realm of possibilities on an issue because they aren't trapped in the world of "politics" and "electability". They empower everyday people to find solutions that reflect the common ground they find together.
@sallyrugg@cameronwilson And by governments! Ireland is currently holding a citizens' assembly on drug law reform. They help get beyond the "politics" of an issue, which is useful for communities AND governments.
A Citizens' Referendum Review would support a less polarised referendum by being a trusted source of information among the campaigns. That's because Australians trust processes featuring people like themselves in key, visible and meaningful roles. Can do it and we should do it!
Great hearing @DavidPocock speaking on #auspolitics about the need to weigh what everyday Australians want alongside peak bodies and industry groups, so you don’t miss out on “what’s good for people”. Let’s chat mechanisms 😉

Brilliant to see Ireland complete another successful #citizensassembly project, this time on #biodiversity.
Also great to know that our very own Kyle Redman @kredman500, from our team, gave advice on their recruitment method!
C'mon, Australia, we should be next. 🌿
What a journey our members have been on..they’ve heard 75 presentations from experts, practitioners and advocates, took a field trip to see biodiversity initiatives and considered 568 public submissions..a more committed and brilliant group of people would be hard to find 👏 👏
1/ Governments spend more than Macca’s on advertising. 🤑
And we’ve found that millions of taxpayer $$ are spent on politicised campaigns, especially in the lead-up to elections. A thread… #auspol
"Years after retiring, Enda Kenny was asked to name his greatest achievement as prime minister. He didn’t boast of reducing Ireland’s unemployment rate from 15 per cent to 4 per cent. His outstanding achievement, he said, was the citizens’ assemblies."
