Challenging how @uniofglos management adopts neoliberal paradigms in HE that rip off students & staff as part of wider systems of social & ecological injustice.
It's #StudentsDeserveBetter National Week of Action! We've written to our VC to request he faces questions from students & staff. Throughout the week, we'll be raising awareness of student (& staff) resistance @uniofglos & across the UK. #TeamGlos#LetsDoThis
Is this enough? No. Do we need tuition fee reductions? Yes. Will we keep fighting? Damn right. But never forget that direct action works, that we'd have got nothing without organising. So let's take a moment to celebrate that! 🥳🍾 Then tomorrow we go again 😡✊ #rentstrike
2⃣🏠We are confirming a 45% reduction on the April rent installment for students living in university managed accommodation, as well as our plans to write to all private landlords on our database to encourage them to consider adjustments to their contracts with students. [3/4]
we’ve already lost 2 tutors and one is on waaay reduced hours because @uniofglos clearly not caring about humanities. uni is hard enough during this and UOG seem to only be making it worse
To our students, we want to reassure you that your messages have not gone unheard.
We'd like to share with you a message from our university leadership team.
@yoursu#teamglos#uniofglos
The overwhelming message is clear, students deserve a rent cut!
@OfficialUoM and every other uni which refuses to refund students for halls they can’t live in, you have no one behind you...
💥 MORE THAN 45 UNIVERSITIES (and counting!) WILL BE RENT STRIKING THIS JANUARY 💥
This is the biggest national student rent strike in history! If you are a student at any of these unis please get involved! ✊
You can sign the petition here https://t.co/xZn9Clscqm Don't believe management when they say there's no money or try and divide students & staff with talk of more redundancies, they are spending millions on speculative estates projects, new managerial appointments, etc
The PM ignored universities last night. Students & staff have been used & exploited throughout the crisis, but maybe even Boris knows they can't keep charging rent for accommodation students are banned from using. UoG students are campaigning for refunds, refunds or rent strike!
Students @uniofglos are seeking partial refunds on tuition & accomodation fees. "We are paying extortionate amounts for rooms we've been advised not to live in." Hearing that if no agreement is reached there may be a rent strike. Sign the petition here 👇

Universities should not be run like for-profit corporations, education should not be a commodity to be bought and sold.
But neither should its aim be to transfer ‘skills’ to a workforce, a production line for little units of economic output.
That whole idea has to change.
Uni bosses now hard nostalgic for the summer when stickers on campus just said "We are the University. Let's make it better" https://t.co/XF6BG8R3r0 and not "Join the rent strike" 🤣 #StudentsDeserveBetter#TeamGlos
We've got stickers and posters up over Bristol and the uni. See if you can spot us and tag our Instagram @rentstrikebris. Watch out for an announcement on Friday!
